Why is electricity bill calculator required?

Electricity Bill Calculator gives us a picture of energy consumption and monthly electrical expsenses which ultimately leads to better utilization of electricity.

What is Power Rating?

Power rating is the rating expressing the maximum power which can be safely and continuously handled by a device. Power rating is represented in terms of Watts (W).

Common residential loads and their power ratings:

Appliances

Power rating (W)

Fridge

100, 250, 200, 250, 550

Iron

800 to 2000

AC

900, 1200, 1500, 2000, 3500

TV

17, 20 to 60, 130, 150, 295

Washing Machine

500, 900

Printer

20 to 30, 600 to 800

Incandescent Light

60 to 100

LED Light

7 to 10

Fans

45 to 80 W

Computer

200

Steps for Electricity Bill Calculator:

Energy consumption by each load

First, we need to calculate the energy consumed by each load by using the formula given below

energy consumption(Wh) = power * quantity * time of use

Electricity cost

Then calculate the total energy cost by using these formulas

electricity cost(per day) =
(Σ energy consumption)*cost per unit / 1000
electricity cost(per month) = electricity cost(per day) * 30

Where,

Σ energy consumption = Sum of energy consumption for each load

1 Unit = 1 Kilowatt-hour (KWh)

Let us consider the following data provided by user:

SOLUTION

Step 1: energy consumption by each load

Load 1 (saver):

energy consumption = 18 * 6 * ( 18 +
30 / 60
) = 1998 wh

Load 2 (fan):

energy consumption = 60 * 3 * ( 12 +
00 / 60
) = 2160 wh

Load 3 (fridge):

energy consumption = 120 * 1 * ( 9 +
00 / 60
) = 1080 wh

Step 2: Electricity Cost

electricity cost(per day) =
(1998 + 2160 + 1080) * 2 / 1000
= $10.476

electricity cost(per month) = $10.476 * 30 = $314.28
